Board Highlights December 9, 2011The first day of the Board meeting was spent reviewing the final candidates for the vacant CEO/ED position. The CEO selection committee, Lee Steeves (Board Chair), Ed Gravelly, Bob Rowbotham, Line Champagne (Audit Chair)and myself reviewed a total of 17 out of 94 candidates who applied for the position. Four candidates were invited for a second review with the entire Board. The Board selected their first and second choice and have offered the position contingent on a mutually approved contract. Dr Simon Verge DVM presented a very detailed report on a DNA certification Program for the CKC. Dr Verge will continue to work on formalizing the program. Sue Coghan, Canuck Dogs presented a report on a review and assessment of Issues and Potential Systems upgrade for CKC. The review was requested because Rachel Munthali the CKC IT Manager for 26 years is retiring at the end of the year and because the IT infrastructure has not been recently upgraded. It was agreed to enter into a $75000 consulting agreement with Ms Coghan to facilitate the website upgrade. The budget for 2012 was not accepted and this will be a task for the new Board. CKC revenues and expenditures were acceptable to the Board but Board members were not willing accept the Apex Publishing budget. The Apex Board consisting of Mr Ed Gravelly, Mr Bob Rowbotham and Board Chair Lee Steeves were unable to give an estimate of the losses to be expected. Discontinuing the printed version of Dogs in Canada magazine resulted in terminations of staff and additional losses due to contract cancellations and funding grants. The Audit Committee tabled a letter to the Board offering the accounting expertise of the three chartered accountant members. The official Referendum Results were given to the Board. All amendments passed except for the 1st amendment proposing a change to the name Cesky terrier to read CZesky terrier. There were insufficient votes cast to pass the referendum. Under select Committee reports Show Modelling the Baby Puppy class

will be amended effective January 1st 2012. The recording fee will be
$2.00. Many General Business motions were tabled until the March 2012 Board Meeting. Motions passed included:
